Rose festival events will start from with its Inauguration.

Rose Festival 2017 will be inaugurated by the Chief Guest- Chairman: Sh. N.P Sharma Chief Engineer, MC Chandigarh

Date: 17 February 2017 – Time: 11:00 AM

As the part of the Rose Festival events all the cultural programs and number of fun activities initiate the fest.

1. Flower Hat Competitions

Date: 17 February 2017 &; Time: 11:20 AM

Participation : School students + College students

Registration: On spot (2-3 hours before the event get started); Reg. Form (available at Rose garden entrance gate on Madhya Marg);

Event Description:
Take some inspiration for flower hat ideas for the Rose Festival 2017.

Rules:
Participants will have to bring their own flowers.
The hat will be provided by organizers.

2. Brass and Pipe Band Competition

Date: 17 February 2017 – Time: 11:10 AM

3. Miss Rose and Mr. Rose

Chairman: General manager ( tourism ), CITCO

Event Description
Participant has to fill a form to take part in Miss Rose and Mr. Rose Competition. There will be two or more different rounds including Catwalk, Questionnaire etc. Marks will be decided on the basis of their performance in terms of appearance, confidence, correct answers in Questionnaire round etc.

Participation: College students or outsiders

Registration: On spot (2-3 hours before the event get started); Reg. Form (available at Rose garden entrance gate on Madhya Marg);

Rules:
*The competition will start at the scheduled time.
*The competition is open to School, College & University students.
*Only first, second and third position holders in each group (Mr. And Ms.) will be awarded.
*Decision of jury will be final.
*Age: 16-26 years
*Preliminary Round at Rose Garden and Final round at Leisure Valley (In different rounds of Western, Tradition etc)

Prizes:-
*Ist Prize: Rs. 11,000/-
*IInd Prize: Rs. 7,000/-
*IIIrd Prize: Rs. 5,000/-

4. Rose Prince and Princess ( kids)

Date: 18 February 2017 – Time: 10:00 AM

Registration: Registration form available at M.C Building Ground floor, Sector-17. Chandigarh from 9th Feb 2017 and Time is 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM). The last date for registration is 4:00 PM 17th Feb 2017.

Entry Fee: Fee-300/-, Redeemable at stalls and payment can be made by Debit/Credit cards and Cash.

Event Descriptions
Kids of age 1.5 to 4 years can take part in this competition.

Rules:
*Children will be divided into three age groups-0-1 years, 1-2 years and 2-3 years, separately for Rose Prince and Rose Princess.
*There will be only one round to perform.
*One Rose Prince and one Rose Princess in each category will be the final winner.
*Judgement will be done on the basis of Activeness, Height, Weight, Dress, Expressions of the child.
*For deciding the entry in each group, age of participant as on 01.01.2017 will be considered.
*Photocopies of Date of Birth & Vaccination Record should be attached with the Entry form.

5. Rose King and Rose Queen (Senior Citizen)

Date: 18 February 2017 – Time: 11:30 AM

Participation: Senior Citizen

Registration: Form (available at Rose garden entrance gate on Madhya Marg);

Event Descriptions
A senior citizen can take part in Rose King and Rose Queen Competition. It will be the great opportunity for them to show their talent. For deciding the best three Rose King and Rose Queen, there will be few rounds like Catwalk, Questionnaire, dance etc. Best three performance in both category(King and queen) will be awarded.

Rules:
*Age: 60+ years, active and enthusiastic
*Participant has to report back stage 1 hour before event start.
*The competition will start strictly at the allotted time.
*Decision of jury will be final.

6. Rose Quiz

Date: 18 February 2017 – Time: 2:00 PM

Chairman: Shri Chanchal Singh, Dy. Director Education

Participation: College and School Students

Registration: Reg. Form (available at Rose garden entrance gate on Madhya Marg);

Event Descriptions
This event is for school and college only who are confident about their knowledge about Roses, Rose Books and Novels, Rose Cultivation, Rose in song, Movies, Economic Importance of Roses, General Awareness about Roses, Botanical Aspects of Roses, Rose in poetry etc.It will be held into two categories (Senior (college students) and Junior (School students)).

Rules:
*An Institute can sponsor only two teams comprising of two students each.
*The names of the participating students (a team of two) to be sent on the prescribed Proforma for registration, duly signed by the Principal of the Institute, stating the Name, Age, Father’s Name and Class of participating students.

7. Newly Wedded Couple

Date: 18 February 2017 – Time: 3:30 AM

Chairman: Sh. N.P Sharma, Chief Engineer, MC Chandigarh

Title:” EK DUJE KE LIYE”

Participant: Should be married Between1Feb 2016- 1 Feb 2017. Rest rules will be disclosed before competition

Registration: The entries tickets will be made available till 15 Feb up to 1.00 PM at the main gate of Rose Garden on Madhya Marg on payment of Rs.1000/-(Rupees One Thousand only).

Event Descriptions:
Newly wedded couples can participate and they should highlight their uniqueness in the relationship , compatibility with each other.

Rules:
*Couples have to register first, among all the registered couples there will a Prelims Round. Only 15 to 20 couples will be selected on the basis of their performances in prelims round.
*The competition will start at the scheduled time
*There will be multiple rounds like tradition, western, casual, questionnaire etc in which the participants have to show their talents.
*Only first, second and third position holders in each group will be awarded.
*Decision of jury will be final

Rounds: – The whole event will be organized in two rounds i.e., Preliminary round and Final round.

Rules:
*The entries will be invited from the interested couples whose marriage date falls between 1.02.2016 to 1.02.2017.
*The entry tickets will be made available till 12th Feb to 1.00 p.m at the main gate of Rose Garden on Madhya Marg on payment of Rs.1000/-(Rupees One Thousand only).
*Out of the total entries received, the best 15 couples would be selected by the designated Judges on 13th Feb at Mahila Bhawan Sector-38 Chandigarh.
*The selected couples will be trained for Final round by Professional Choreographer (arranged by the Municipal Corporation Chd)
Final Round:-*The final round shall consist of three sub-rounds namely
*Ramp walk in Traditional attire
*Ramp walks Western outfit.
*Casual round with questionnaire
*Each sub round (stated above) shall be having the time gap of 20 minutes for changing clothes by the contestants.
*The Designated Judges shall take decisions according to the performance of the participants.

Prizes:-
Three winners will get free national international trips.
*Ist Prize: Tour Package to Thailand
*IInd Prize: Tour Package to Goa
*IIIrd Prize: Tour package to Shimla/Nainital

8. Spot Painting Competition

Date: 19 February 2017 – Time: 10:30 AM

Chairman: Sh. Rajinder Singh Kalsi, Senior Architect Deptt of Urban Planning UT.

Registration: Reg. Form (available at Rose garden entrance gate on Madhya Marg);

Event Descriptions:
Everyone can participate who have good skill of drawing things and coloring in it. They should bring their own colors, sheets will be provided.

Rules:
*The competition is open for School, College, University and General Public.
*Materials will be arranged by the participants themselves. Only sheet(s) will be provided by the Organizers.
*Only first, second and third position holders in each group will be awarded.
*Decision of jury will be final.
*Participants must report half an hour prior to the scheduled time of starting the event at the respective venues.
*The organizers reserve the power to cancel, postpone or change the venue of any event without assigning any reason.
*Themes for painting will be given on the spot.
*The participants can use any medium of color.

9. Antaksharee

Date: 19 February 2017 – Time: 11:30 AM

Chairman: Sh. Sanjay Arora, Superintending Engineer(PH) MC Chd

Registration: Invite; reg. Form

Participation: 47-48 colleges-6 ppl each

Event Descriptions:
This will take place on 19 Feb 2017 among the student of Tri-City’s colleges/Institutes.

Rules:
*Each college/ institute can send the maximum of six students.
*Each college team must bring a letter of authority from the principal stating that they are the bonafide student of this college/institute.
*Preliminary round will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday 15th February 2017 at Panchayat Bhavan, Sector 18 Chandigarh.
*Expert panelists will select two students from each college for the final competition.
*Final competition will be held on 19 Feb 2017 at Rose Garden.
*Three prizes will be awarded to the teams standing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
*Each participant will get the participation certificate.

10. Kite Flying

Date: 17 February 2017 and 18 February – Time: 11:00 AM

Chairman: Sh. Sanjay Arora Superintending engineer ( PH) MC Chd

Registration: Invite

Event Descriptions:
This event is for promoting girls for educations and their safer future and to encourage all for the clean city by spreading awareness about swacchata app launched on 2 Oct 2014 by a centre government.

Few other points are as follows-
*The venue for Kite Flying show will be near the main fountain, Rose Garden, Sector 16, Chandigarh.
*The Sub-Committee decided to hold this event on 18th February 2017 at 11.00 A.M. to 2.30 P.M. and on 19th at 11.00 A.M. onwards.The participation fee for participants flying the special kites irrespective of the sponsored shall be fixed with Rs.100/- for each instance, the participants flying normal kites would not be charged any entry fee.
*The Chief Guest for Kite Flying Competition for inauguration on 18.02.2017 at 11.30. A.M will be Sh. Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Senior Deputy Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh and for 19.02.2017 at 11.30 A.M. will be Sh. Anil Kumar Dubey, Deputy Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.

11. Finalizing of prizes and mementos
